Penalties for committing theft directly from a person without force, threat, or intimidation is defined in Colorado’s criminal theft statute, Colorado Revised Statutes 18-4-401 (5) and results in a “class 5 felony without regard to the value of the thing taken.”  For this section to qualify, the property would have to be taken directly from the person, rather than property that was taken when the owner was not present.
