Marijuana, Marihuana: dried flowers and leaves of hemp smoked for their intoxicating effect.

Black’s Law Dictionary

Marihuana, mariguana, marijuana: An annual herb, cannabis, sativa, having angular rough stem and deeply lobed leaves. The bast fibres of cannabis are the hemp of commerce. A drug prepared from “cannabis” and commonly known as marijuana, marihuana, marijuana, maraguana, or marihuana. State v. Navaro, 83 Utah 6, 26 P.2d 955.

“Marihuana” means all parts of the plant Cannabis sativa L., whether growing or not; seeds thereof; the resin extracted from any part of the plant; and every compound, manufacture, salt, derivative, mixture, or preparation of the plant, its seeds or resin. It does not include the mature stalks of the plant, fiber produced from the stalks, oil or cake made from the seeds of the plant, any other compound, manufacture, salt, derivative, mixture, or preparation of the mature stalks (except the resin extracted therefrom), fiber, oil, cake, or the sterilized seed of the plant which is incapable of germination. Uniform controlled substances act, 101(n).

 

 Marihuana is also commonly referred to as “pot,” “grass,” “tea,” “weed,” or “Mary-Jane,” and in cigarette form as a “joint’ or reefer
